Aurora Saturn Multiport 2- and 4-port PCI-bus WAN communicationscontrollers provide the performance and reliability needed for high-speedserial communications. Data transfer rates up to 230.4 kbps asynchronousand 256 kbps synchronous, full duplex, are supported. Aurora controllersare available for any SPARC(R) compatible system or personal computerwith a PCI expansion bus, running Solaris(R) or Solaris(R) x86 Rev. 2.5or higher. Aurora WAN controllers can be used to access public datanetworks, link central locations to branch offices, connect high-speedmodem banks, ISDN modems, DSUs, and to add peripherals to departmentLANs, all from one system slot. Aurora controllers offers many benefitsover conventional Ethernet-based routers including higher throughput,reduced LAN traffic, conservation of CPU resources, easier installationand administration, and substantial cost savings. Multi-protocol supportOptional Aurora synchronous data communications protocols including FrameRelay, X.25, PPP, HDLC, and SDLC are available for SPARC(R) systems.Aurora also offers a Driver Developer Kit for custom protocoldevelopment. SunLink protocols are fully supported. Throughput ratingsyou can rely on Aurora conservatively rates the throughput of itsproducts based on all lines simultaneously driven, full duplex. Interface options The SaturnMultiport support the RS-232 interface and are available with either DB-25 or RJ-45 connectors. RS-422 or RS-485 with DB-25 connectors isoptionally available. Configuration is accomplished using the same easy-to-use Sun(TM) system administration tools used to configure the nativeports of a Solaris(R) system.
